The guide explains in layman&#8217;s terms how the private equity investment process works.<\/p>\n<p>In 1992, when I was a member of the BVCA&#8217;s then Information Committee I suggested that they should have a guide to private equity that demystified the investment process &#8211; I was duly asked to write it!. Since the first edition was published that year many tens of thousands of copies have been sent out or downloaded from the BVCA&#8217;s website. The 2010 edition includes new sections on specific considerations relating to venture capital and management buyout deals, term sheets and the working relationship between a private equity investor and management team.
