I regard myself as truly British: although I was born in England (Oldham) and currently reside in Windsor, I was brought up and schooled in Wales (and required to learn Welsh in the process) and I have an affinity with Scotland, currently carrying out academic research at Glasgow University Business School and a keen kilt wearer ( four tartans). I don’t want to see my Britishness watered down to just two countries: England and Wales. What happens to the Union Jack (would the St Andrew’s blue in the flag be removed?) and the “Great” in “Great Britain” if Scotland becomes independent? It’s only people actually living in Scotland who can vote in the referendum; Scots living in the rest of Great Britain and “cross-country” Brits like myself don’t get to vote. Is this fair? At least I shouldn’t need my passport to enter an independent Scotland next year (provided Common Travel Area rules apply) and I’ll still be wearing my kilts!

Any comments?
