A Guide to Private Equity

The new 2010 edition of “A Guide to Private Equity”, authored by myself, was published by the BVCA earlier this year. The guide explains in layman’s terms how the private equity investment process works.

In 1992, when I was a member of the BVCA’s then Information Committee I suggested that they should have a guide to private equity that demystified the investment process – I was duly asked to write it!. Since the first edition was published that year many tens of thousands of copies have been sent out or downloaded from the BVCA’s website. The 2010 edition includes new sections on specific considerations relating to venture capital and management buyout deals, term sheets and the working relationship between a private equity investor and management team. I have also updated the section on government sources of finance.
