KEITH ARUNDALE CONSULTANCY SERVICES ON PRIVATE EQUITY & VENTURE CAPITAL
Background
Keith founded Arundale Consulting Limited* in 2005 after 28 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers where latterly he led the venture capital and business development programmes for PwC’s Global Technology Industry Group in Europe. Keith was part of the core leadership team that set up this group in 1997.
As venture capital leader for Europe with PwC, Keith led the relationship development programme with technology venture capital firms across Europe, developed thought leadership and marketing programmes for PwC’s venture capital sector and coordinated a network of 17 country venture capital lead partners in Europe. He directed and authored PwC’s “Money for Growth” European private equity and venture capital survey of technology industry investments, the annual Investment Activity and Performance Measurement surveys for the BVCA in the UK and the annual and quarterly investment activity surveys for the European Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (EVCA).
Keith also led the business development programmes for PwC’s Global Technology Industry Group in Europe for both multi-national and fast-growth, venture backed technology companies and facilitated Account Planning Workshops on major client accounts. He directed the central marketing team for the group and co-ordinated over 20 country marketing teams in Europe.
Previously at PwC, Keith directed the firm’s proposals function in continental Europe, helping to win many major audit and advisory assignments. He also managed several due diligence, acquisition and IPO assignments involving financial modelling and appraisals, forecasting and long-form reporting in various industries in addition to providing audit, accounting and advisory services to large corporate and many owner-managed businesses.
Now as Director of Arundale Consulting Limited, Keith specialises in university teaching, executive education in private equity & venture capital and independent advice for entrepreneurs and management teams on the private equity & venture capital industry.

PhD Research for Mature Students
If you are looking to pursue a PhD later in life there are potentially many stumbling blocks. How do you choose the right supervisor and the right university who will work with mature students? How do you choose your subject matter? How do you allocate sufficient time to pursue your research, particularly if you are working full-time or even part-time in a main career? How do you cope with the inevitable life challenges? How do you maintain a positive attitude and stay motivated throughout your studies over what could be up to ten years?
I can share my own experience with these challenges as a mature student myself commencing my part-time PhD research at the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, University of Strathclyde Business School in 2009 under the excellent supervision of Professor Colin Mason, transitioning to the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow with Prof Mason in 2012 (www.gla.ac.uk/schools/business) and completing my PhD in 2018.
