Business and finance insights for ‘A new world post-COVID-19’ shared in new book
Insights into the impact of COVID-19 on different areas of business and finance have been shared by academics in a new book published online on 31 July 2020. “A new world post-COVID-19: Lessons for business, the finance industry and policy makers” is co-edited by Henley Business School, University of Reading and Ca ‘Foscari University of Venice and explores the effect of the pandemic through a range of topics, including financial markets, travel and tourism, AI and big data, pensions, and entrepreneurship. The book can be freely downloaded at this link. Ideas explored in the book include who should foot the bill for the UK’s lockdown (and the likely implications for British taxpayers), how quickly the travel and tourism industry will recover, and whether the UK government should be doing more to fund start-ups in the wake of COVID. Emerging trends in AI and big data, the impact of the pandemic on mergers & acquisitions and what history can tell us about the global economic consequences of a pandemic are explored. The book is co-edited by Dr Simone Varotto from Henley Business School and Professor Monica Billio at the University Ca’ Foscari of Venice.
The book includes the chapter “Private Equity & Venture Capital: Riding the COVID-19 crisis” by Dr Keith Arundale of Henley Business School and Prof Colin Mason of the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow.
