Different strokes: US and European Venture (Article in Real Deals magazine)
Real Deals article – July 2019
Real Deals magazine interviewed me recently on my research into venture capital investment practices in Europe and US and other factors that might have given rise to the historic difference in performance between European and US VC funds. The above is a copy of the article by the Editor which appeared in Real Deals magazine this week.
With European VC returns now improving and the returns gap between Europe and US narrowing significantly according to European Investment Fund and other data, I am keen to encourage discussion on the reasons for the improved performance in Europe. As the article questions: “Is this the result of European managers learning from their US rivals, or has Europe carved out its own methods for scaling companies and delivering returns for investors?” Any comments on this are most welcome.
